Senior Planning Engineer (Site Experience needed)

They must also be able to provide support to the pre-contract tender team, assist with bid writing and summarising their construction thoughts on scheme specific programmes.\n\nMain Duties for the Senior Planning Engineer\n\n * Provide advice and assistance on planning, methods of construction, solutions to engineering problems and programme creation,\n\n * Ensure that while planning each tender, all possible alternative methods and strategies have been considered and discussed with the tender team.\n\n * Assist with providing supporting documents for each tender submission as required.\n\n * Jointly reviewing sub-contracted design work with respect to buildability and tender compliance, seeking advice from the Technical Manager when necessary.\n\n * Ensure that any programmes and supporting documents produced, comply with all schemes’ specific constraints.\n\n * Keep up to date with industry developments, innovations, and legislation.\n\nAre you the person we’re looking for?\n\nWe are specifically seeking someone with genuine civil engineering site-based delivery experience. This role is firmly rooted in how projects are built in the real world, not just how they are planned on paper.\n\nMust have:\n\nProven hands-on experience in a civil engineering site delivery environment (e.g.

Sub Agent, Site Agent, Engineer, or Project Manager on live projects)\n\nA strong understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, and buildability gained directly on-site. Demonstrable experience of being actively involved in delivering works on the ground, not solely planning or office-based programming. Ability to translate site knowledge into realistic, efficient and buildable construction programmes\n\nThis role is about shaping programmes based on how work is actually executed in the field, ensuring they are practical, achievable, and aligned with real site constraints.\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\nHas broad experience across civil engineering construction sites, with a clear track record of delivery responsibility\n\nHolds a minimum of an HNC in Civil Engineering\n\nWorks confidently as part of a team in a fast-paced delivery environment\n\nSkills:\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with site teams and stakeholders\n\nIdeally familiar with programming tools such as Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project\n\nExcellent benefits package and personal development opportunities:\n\nWe don’t just offer a great place to work with a supportive, family atmosphere.
