Role: Senior Buildings Technician\n\nLocation: Oxford\n\nSalary: £37,000\n\nAn excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Buildings Technician to join a busy facility and building services team supporting a specialist technical environment.\n\nThis is a varied, hands-on role combining facilities maintenance, building services, technical support, contractor coordination, and project work. You'll play a key role in ensuring buildings, equipment, and essential services are maintained safely and efficiently while supporting the day-to-day operation of the site.\n\nResponsibilities include:\n\nCarry out planned and reactive maintenance across buildings and facilities.\nMaintain and repair building fabric including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and general repairs.\nSupport refurbishment, fit-out, and improvement projects.\nInstall, modify, and relocate furniture, equipment, and building services.\nAssist with mechanical systems including compressed air, gas, water, ventilation, extraction, and vacuum systems.\nSupport the installation, maintenance, and relocation of specialist equipment.\nMonitor and coordinate contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.\nSupport fire safety, security systems, and emergency response procedures.\nMaintain maintenance records, compliance documentation, and stock levels.\nAssist with waste management and environmental compliance activities.\nAct as a senior member of the facilities team and provide support to colleagues as required. \n\nSkills & experience:\n\nNVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent trade qualification.\nPrevious experience within facilities maintenance, building services, estates, engineering, or a similar environment.\nExperience carrying out maintenance, fault finding, and repair work.\nGood understanding of health and safety regulations.\nExperience using hand and power tools.\nStrong IT skills including Microsoft Office.\nExcellent organisational and problem-solving skills.\nAbility to work independently and manage competing priorities.Desirable\n\nExperience with Building Management Systems (BMS) or PAT testing software.\nExperience working with compressed air, gas, vacuum, water, or cryogenic systems.\nPrevious contractor or team supervision experience.\nFirst Aid at Work qualification.\nExperience working in a laboratory, technical, scientific, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
